I have been born with great intelligence, and maybe that is the reason why the CIA recruited me. However, since I had to be undercover, I pretended to live a simple life. I told friends that I just compare auto insurance rates for my company’s website. My MIT classmates shook their heads at how I “wasted” my training and education.
One time, my former classmate Angela went to our office to ask for insurance quotes from one of our insurance agents. When she saw me, her eyes were wide in surprise. “Why are you here? You’re really working here? Seriously?”
I told her, “Why not? This is a great a job. I mean, my life is complicated as it is that’s why I decided to take an easy job. I mean, what’s wrong with this?”
“Laura, you’re one of the most intelligent persons I know. I even imagined that you’ll be working for NASA or the CIA, and now you’re here working as a computer programmer for an insurance company? Come on, where’s your dream?”
I thought to myself “If you only knew Angela…”
